Guidelines for submitting fiction, art, and nonfiction articles and essays to the inaugural edition of our magazine, Fluid Spec.
Inaugural edition of Fluid Spec: What we seek
Original work that has not been published previously either in print, or online. We seek thoughtful and engaging stories, art, and nonfiction pieces. For the inaugural issue we are looking for work that explores future relationships between urban and rural living using a unique lens on what might be possible. Forward thinking, solutions based work sought in particular. Please note: we do not seek stories with dystopian-centric themes or nonfiction with a crying Cassandra tone or mood. We will accept 10 to 12 submissions for release in late Spring, early Summer 2024. Submission Deadline is February 18th, 2024.
Artists
Please submit a link to your online portfolio. We seek cover illustrations as well as illustrations for our stories and articles. Pay is $275 USD for original, full-color cover art, $125 USD for feature full-color illustrations, and $65 USD for interior black and white artwork.
Story Writers
Seeking short stories between 2,500 and 7,500 words. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, please withdraw any submission that has been accepted elsewhere as a courtesy to our staff. We pay $0.09 USD per word. Story submissions should be sent to contact@2ravenspress.com with your name and story title in the subject line.
Nonfiction
Seeking nonfiction essays and articles between 2,500 and 7,500 words.Simultaneous submissions are accepted, please withdraw any submission that has been accepted elsewhere as a courtesy to our staff. Formatting
Submit all stories, essays, and articles in a Word compatible format .DOC,.DOCX, or .RTF in 12-point font with 1-inch margins, and no indentations of paragraphs. Please ensure it is using an easily read font such as Times New Roman. Remember to double-space your document, and include your name, pen name (if applicable), address, title, and word count.
Response
Our response time is usually within 45 days. Please query about your submissions at contact@2ravenspress.com if you have not heard from us by that time. Don't forget to include our email address in your safe list so it doesn't end up in your spam folder.
"AI"
Do not submit any work written using ChatGPT or related "AI" tools, you risk being banned. We accept neither fiction nor nonfiction works reliant on such tools, and make no exception for listing ChatGTP as a co-author.
